Bypassing rar passwords?
Is there any way of getting the files in a rar archive without having to brute-force the password? Even if I had a fast PC it would take me way too long.
At some point Winrar must compare the Entered Password with the Real Password, but does that occur at a level that one can monitor? The file in question is a self-extracting .exe, and you need the password to get the files inside. |

Re: Bypassing rar passwords?
*sigh*
Have you even tried searching for the answer to this on your own..? You're a programmer, right? So, why don't you just take a look at the UnRAR sourcecode and answer your own question: hxxp://www.win-rar.com/index.php?aid=extras What could be easier? Look for yourself to see how the password check is implemented instead of waiting on someone here to do the work for you and explain it to you, and maybe you will learn something in the process. |

wrong... winrar doesn't compare any password... it unpacks and checks crc... wrong pass, wrong decrypt, wrong crc... what do you think is AES?
