SOFTICE running on newest ultrabook

Maybe this little tutorial will be interesting for someone
I've just bought new laptop; exactly saying: "ultrabook" = something between notebook and netbook
There is preinstalled 64-bit Windows 7, so there was no chance to run my favourite debugger under this OS.... So I had to install an old Windows on the other partition and configure Softice to run; and there was some problems to solve:
1. The HDD is a SDD = flash drive mounted on SATA interface and BIOS option which usually set HDD in "compatibility" = ATA mode is disabled=inactive, so I have to find and add proper SATA driver to Windows XP install CD (with nLite)
2. After installing XP SP3 and Softice, Softice caused reboot while set to run in Boot mode, and made unrecoverable page faults after first appearing in Manual mode. After a few hours.... I discovered, that the cause was that laptop is a multiprocessor machine - which is not served by Softice. So I have to start XP in uniprocessor mode (/onecpu in boot.ini)
4. There was following problem with the mouse:
After Crtl-D switching to Softice window and return to Windows - the HID USB mouse was dead I don't like touchpad, so the problem had to be solved !. After an hour .... it stated clear, that original XP SP3 EHCI controller driver (USBEHCI.sys) is not properly served by Softice. There was well-known messages in Softice window about "error catching EHCI_Queque...." API and "EHCI DT data error" -> so I had to disable "extended" = USB 2.0 ports and controllers, and attach mouse to USB 3.0 (NEC) port - which is served OK by Sice (isn't it strange ??)
And now my lovely black window is running OK
Have a nice day
Amigo
PS. The last available and working under XP SP3 Softice versions are:
3.2.1.2560 for ntice, cpthook
4.3.2.2485 for siwvid, nmfilter
4.3.1.2148 for osidata.sys
osinfo.dat 474346 b
osinfob.dat 356884 b
.
PS-2 I know, I know, there is a lot of better, newer, faster.... debuggers on the market... which run on every OS, every hardware etc
