DVD/CD VOLUME lable

Hi guys, sorry for this stupid question. I'm getting old and have forgot how I did it in the past
What program did I use to inform me of the volume lable of the inserted CD/DVD, gotten software now that gives a message "wrong volume inserted" So I just need the name of the disk volume in the reader, I know the actual name of the disk I have but it must be wrong
Thanks in anticipation...................

You can use a tool such as SIW(System Information for Windows) to get volume information for the disks. These are the best tools I know. You can find full versions on nearly any warez site.
In SIW, to get this information, expand Hardware and select "logical disks". Then under the drive that contains your disk, expand "characteristics" to see the information you need.

Aida64(previously known as Everest) may have a similar feature as well.

Using the same method, you should be able to view any Volume label(s) for DVD/CD's inserted in the drive without resorting to 3rd party software, a bonus if this is just a one-off thing that needs to be done.

There is also no harm in getting to know your computer on a lower level, performing tasks manually that are able to be done instead of relying on a canned solution.

Lightbulb

if you are using Windows XP, just press like this start->right click My Computer->Manage->Disk Management
you will see every disk with name, hard and removable.
I don't know about other OSs but may be there is something like this.

Hi guys, thanx for the fast response! We appear to be across purposes here (or it was the manner in which I asked the question). Where I am at is here, the DVD volume name is say DVD_PART1 but the program says please insert a DVD with a different name - for example DVD_PART4. I just need someone to refresh my memory as what I used before to tell me where or what is asking for that volume. I thought it was filemon but that don't work..........Need a monitor of some sort to give me the info!
