Nod Eset Smart Security.
Firewall & antivirus, 2 in 1.

Bombsquad 09-12-2010 07:10

Best is symantec endpoint portection -- it's a complete solution . Plus it does not take much resources.

maestro 10-02-2010 21:39

Eset Nod32 best of the best

GPcH 10-08-2010 18:03

Comodo CIS with a manual tuning is a best.

goku 10-09-2010 01:22

G-data best

From Russia, with love.... The Kaspersky Anti-Virus Engine is of superior quality. I want to destroy speculation and rumors that the KAV engine is "slow". Scanning is clearly and measurably faster then most (if not all) of it's commercial counterparts. Scanning ONLY starts to suffer when the engine's security heuristics are moved to maximum levels due to so-called "hostile environments".

To me, detection/protection ability trumps speed 100% of the time so speed is not of a very great concern to me (especially since the move to multi-core CPU's and SSD's in almost all of my systems). Anyway, The "proactive defense" mechanism provided by these geniuses, is among the most stable and simple-to-understand that I have seen. The interface is very well-organized and intuitive versus some of the other bloated garbage being peddled out there.

Second to NONE unpacking capability. Kaspersky AV engine successfully unpacks more types of packing schemes then any other antivirus. I'm amazed. Of course, I do not use ANY antivirus on my systems as it is unnecessary for me. What i'm saying here is basically IF I DID HAVE TO CHOOSE one, then I'd go with Kaspersky products. And actually I DO for my clients. The SECRET to keeping everything trim and running super-fast is to ONLY install the AntiVirus & proactive defense components. All other components are absolutely UNNECESSARY BLOAT which are warranted only under extreme circumstances such as your client(s) being hard-core computer illiterates.

I can say much more about the engine but i think what i've said already will do nicely.

KAV is a death to old and slow computer, imho

#1 - Kaspersky Internet Security
Avira Premium Security Suite
NOD32 Smart Security

But i prefer to use avira .

WildGoblin 10-14-2010 02:23

Kaspersky of the eighth version.

g-max 10-23-2010 06:25

I have used Symantec Corporate Edition for many years and now I have upgraded it to Symantec Endpoint Protection v11...
its centralized management is the best i've ever seen.

Well, I've been using Eset smart internet Security + Comodo Firewall.

Never had problem with it.

If the antivirus fails, then here comes Comodo Firewall.

lordi 11-15-2010 13:10

back in NOD32 2.xx, its fast
but as version rise, its slow and more slow
Using KIS 2011 because i have 2 years free license installed on my Laptop and NOD32 4 on my PC because i love the database backup, its really pain the ass when you have slow bandwidth and need to reinstall the AV

hehehehe, silly reason

romeo 11-16-2010 05:55

avira premium ...... Please dont mention as g0d. It fails too hard!!

Umm KIS 2011 is lovely! But not so good for windows7 64bit (x64) , beacuse of kpp - and kernel mods. Well we all know kasperky do much in kernel. Anyways apart from that, safe run- (i.e kasperksys own sandbox) is no option for 64bits, and some aspects of engine failing in some bits. Unlike 32bits (refering to xp 32) , kis works best here with everything its built for 100percent working (well ofcourse.. Xp it was developed for..) :)
Has anyone used/tried panda?

In my opinion....the best one is nod32...if u like to play with suspicious files nod 32 is the best antivirus.

WHy?? because it wont give as many false alarms on virus that dont are virus and will detect virus that are really viruses. I've been using all engines of antivirus and i got to say nod32 pleases my needs...and nod321 makes it even easier to find serials for nod32.

If u are a Linux user like me...no need of engine of antivirus is needed...although if u are paranoid in security like I was, use Bitdefender for LInux machines, works perfect.
Hope it was helpfully ^^

Or just use Linux and say goodbay to all crap of viruses XD Linux the best OS.

deroko 01-31-2011 00:56

None, use vmware for your internet activity, so even if something gets in, after snapshot restore it's gone. Cya AVs and your system slowdown.

Although, ESET seems like far the best choice regarding system resources.

Daas Cook 02-02-2011 13:39

G Data TotalCare 2011 kick ass'.

Is the best, for me right... xD

Gladiyator 02-02-2011 16:54

I think the avast engine is the best

chessgod101 02-03-2011 11:55

I do not use an antivirus per se. I use WinPatrol(I wrote a keygen if anyone is interested) which alerts me to startup/autorun changes. I despise an AV that consumes system resources and deletes files without warning just because it thinks they are harmful.

blaklite 02-07-2011 00:29

I use NOD, but more as a matter of habit more than anything else. I have noticed that it does seem to have bloated over the years, so I tend to make sure the settings are on their lowest and make sure I use a mvps hosts file and just be aware of what I am doing.

After reading ths thread I am tempted to give Avira a try, but as I am pretty poor, is there any way of getting it to work, similar to nod321?

I have tried to get used to using a firewall (comodo primarily) but gave up with the endless interuptions and had so many exceptions it just seemed a waste of time. So now I just stick with the m$ one (which does seems little better now with win7, but im sure would be of no use to a determined bit of code).

gData av includes avast engine also =)

so gData i think the best

boeser.hacker 02-10-2011 01:32

The more sophisticated the heuristics and the bigger the pattern database, the more secure you are. But (of course) also slower.
In some environments, you have to chose a fast engine and accept the higher risk.

runner1212 02-10-2011 08:00

I use nod32,but its a resource hog

hksonngan 02-16-2011 18:13

I use kis 2009, but it slow down my computer so I uninstall and based on my experience on some tools to check rootkits and processes ocationany
