Windows XP Mode MyOwn (VirtualBox image)
Windows XP Mode MyOwn (VirtualBox image):
Download link: http://www.datafilehost.com/d/109bcd6d It is a Windows XP wich expires (may be even legal - I don't know). No Reverse Engineering (RE) tool included. |
what is special about this image so people would like to get it?
PS there are tons of images over internet I guess, so there must be some emerald insdie? |
The original image was called "Windows XP Mode for Windows 7"
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx%3Fid=8002 I've made an writable image from that stuff, The difference is that it may be legal (but I'm not sure), and unlike "Windows XP Mode for Windows 7" this suppose to work on any OS and no installation needed. |
This is a simple Windows XP image? Just that? sorry it seems i'm missing something
Edit: might be legal? are you joking? this is exetools, look around a bit... |
Hi @CodeCracker
How are you? Hope you are fully fit & fine now :) I agree with an0rma1 that this is exetools so not to much worry about legal or illegal :D It could be a valuable share if you also include simple RE tools along with this image, as it would save lot of time for people using it as simple plug & play -- Just a suggestion regards |
I will come across as jerk.. but need say.
If using XP for RCE... this is sad. Come to 2017 |
maybe it had a complete CIA tools in 2011. :-)
|
Bah,
not working for me... It soon asks for a "new" key and no one is valid, then it forces shutdown; no trial period allowed. I would suggest the image at link https://npackd.appspot.com/p/xp-ie6-...box/2014.10.27, exactly the same but not asking any key. The download is fatter in this case (1 GB). Best regards |
Tested on second machine and it work as it suppose to work.
Yeah, it suppose to expire after 30 days. Checking the image you posted! |
Looks to be a nice image to test :P
|
Nice to see that the link is still alive.

bilbo's link "file not found" is it the only me?
|
I like Hiren boot CD. It contains a mini XP and always forks for me plus a lot of extra stuff. I use version 13 which to me is better than even newer ones.
|
Hiren boot CD is a classics bits of SW :)
win xp is a trash can bits... someone could think of it as MS DOS :) |
There was a project called Windows XP Black Edition that was hugely popular in german boards before Win10.
It's called Integral Edition nowadays and is still being updated. |

Sharing files between computers and VM:
after setting shared folder in VirtualBox: On Windows XP enter under command: Entire Network or (then enter on) VirtualBox Shared Folders and there you should see shared folder. Nice to see the download link is still working, the XP VM is working fine in my new machine, I just have to install "Guest Additions CD". It is hard to find Olly plugin working on VM. Here is a new ReactOS image to play with: https://www73.zippyshare.com/v/KU5dgTjx/file.html but for some reasons I can't start any win32 program. |
vmware player works better than virtualbox

The actual error messages would really help ...
Are you talking about the installation or execution of 32 bit apps ? |

Some notes about howto make you own WinXP vhd image using MS-VirtualPC.
1) In MS-VirtualPC create new VM and assign for its CD-DRIVE bootable ISO file with WinXP distributive. 2) Start its new VM in MS-VirtualPC. It boots up into WinXP installation. Install WinXP as for real PC with new empty hard drive (used virtual hard drive of VM). 3) Enjoy. Installed WinXP runs from virtual hard drive with default size 132GB with NTFS file system ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If u want use FAT32 for virtual system HDD then do next steps: 1) Make an image of floppy boot diskette with MS-DOS 7 (for ex. boot_fdd.img). 2) Make bootable CD-ROM ISO image using this file boot_fdd.img (for ex. boot_fdd.ISO). Use UltraISO (SmallCDWriter etc.). 3) In MS-VirtualPC create new VM and assign for its CD-DRIVE this bootable ISO file boot_fdd.ISO. 4) Start new VM in MS-VirtualPC. It boots up into MS-DOS 7 from boot_fdd.ISO. 5) Run DOS fdisk.exe command. With fdisk.exe create new partition in raw virtual disk of VM Note: Don't restart VM after this. 6) Exit from fdisk.exe and run NU.EXE (Norton Utility or Norton Disk Editor) Using NU.EXE clear "bootable bit" at Partition Table of new created partition of VM virtual HDD. 7) Reboot VM. It boots again into MS-DOS 7. 8) Run "format.exe C:" command. Now virtual HDD formatted into FAT32. 9) Run "sys a:\ C:" command. System (MS-DOS 7) transferred into virtual drive C:. 10) Exit from VM and assign for its virtual CD-DRIVE bootable ISO file with WinXP distributive (For ex. - WinXP/SP2). 11) Start VM. It boots up into WinXP installation from bootable ISO file. 12) When installation prompted for install destination, select existing partition with existing file system (FAT32). 13) Continue installation of WinXP as for real PC. 14) Enjoy. Installed WinXP runs from virtual hard drive with default size 132GB with FAT32 file system and with boot menu with optional booting into MS-DOS 7. ------------------------------------------------------------- See screenshot: |
