Softice was amazing. It seems a convenient powerful kernel debugger like it won't happen again.
Softice is to reversing what IDE studios e.g. MSVS are to programming. Rapid application cracking vs rapid application development (RAD).
But nothing prevents it from being possible. I think it's closer to the high amount of technical aspects to maintaining such a tool compared to low profitability has made it so no company bothers trying anymore.
