Cool /NOGUIBOOT in DS3.1

Hi all
Why DS3.1 set /NOGUIBOOT in boot.ini and prevent showing windows logo
when it get installed?
Is it cause any problem when we enable in again?(remove /NOGUIBOOT from
boot.ini)

sincerely yours

IMHO the answer is very simple - SI just tells you in this message, that you can cancel loading its drivers by pressing ESC (when something goes wrong and system hangs f.e), so it has to set /noguiboot to display that message. I always remove /noguiboot from boot.ini, and it never caused any problems.

I might think of two reasons:

1) To give you the opportunity to see the "Press Esc to cancel loading SOFTICE.."
2) The video driver has not been initialized yet so SI cannot use its universal driver, so if u want to use it at boot time, SI must use its text mode driver.
thats why there is a /NOGUIBOOT, to keep the display in text mode during the boot time

The reason is not only to get the "Press ESC..." prompt, but also to get into SoftICE configuration when you set SoftICE to start in "boot mode". Then it tells you to press ESC to modify the startup environment, which shows you a nice text-mode configuration dialog where you can decide what to load an what not.
I personally don't start SoftICE in "boot mode", so I have enabled the Windows bootscreen again without having any problems. And you actually see what CHKDSK is doing at startup, since it will not show in text mode but only on the default startup screen.
