WINDOWS XP & BIOS

Hi

I gotta slight problem with two versions of XP

One - XP Pro with SP1 is fine!
Two - XP Corp with SP1 messes up the BIOS when it shuts down!

Anyone out there got any ideas as to what the hell is going on??

Regards

I have XP Corp Sp2 without activation , bios is Award v6.00PG (2002) and it works without any problem.
Maybe you have "Flash write Protect" somewhere in Advanced bios features disabled . As i remember , some years ago , there was some virus ? (Cih)
that write his own code into bioses without flash protection .

I am affraid that i don't know exactly what you mean with that (maybe you mean it reset clock/date , other bios settings to default and similar stuff ) ?

Thanx for your reply hosiminh

BIOS is American Megatrends Inc. Version 07.00T 04/02/01 and it resets the BIOS to default. But only on Corp version

BIOS (basic input/output system) contains all the code required to control the keyboard, display screen, disk drives, serial communications, and a number of miscellaneous functions -- I just hope it didn't messed up your BIOS , 'coz then you would be unable even to boot

Thus you must be talking about CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) where all settings are stored date/time ,system setup parameters etc...)

Maybe is your battery running low on your motherboard and need to be replaced.

P.S. Do you have "Flash write Protect" enabled ?

Hi

Could you elaborate a little, what exectly do you mean by cdroms from BIOS is fine. Are you saying the BIOS detects the CD's but then they are not accessible in XP and if you put them into another PC they work??

Hi again

There is no flash write in this version of BIOS and I have replaced the battery although the old one was reading 3.12V. It does not bugger the BIOS just puts everything to default and then of course it won't boot till you put it right again coz the checksum is wrong
