x64 programming on Linux in assembly is now gaining new importance for mission critical applications.

Nearly all mobile devices are running on ARM and nearly all routers are running on MIPS. x86_64 was already important, our servers still running on those processors. If some architecture is gaining importance I think it is AArch64!
