VS 2005 and PDA Emulation
With Visual Studio 2005 coming out, and the betas that are floating around I installed it and was impressed with the PDA Emulation and the general look of Visual Studio but I havent got down the exact process of debugging EXE's using VS 2005. I can goto Debug, Attach to Process and Select the Mobile Device thats running, or have it try to connect, if it trys to connect it usually fails for some reason (dont know why yet) if its already running it seems to work sometimes but I'm still unable to break on API's like GetWindowTextW etc so I was wondering if anyone had any tips for using it to debug PocketPC apps. Thanks

Hello,
I do not want to dissapoint you but it seems that debuging in vs beta does not work with emulators - you are not the only one with this problem. In MS Forums, I saw an post that you need to set "Loopback adapter" in Emulator->Properties->Options->Network and restart emulator but this did not worked for me - it still does not respond to breakpoint. There is a blogs from VS SmartDevice team, usualy they mentioned problems with smartdevices and vs and how to solve. You might check them out. hope it help asmith |
