Portable MSVC without resource hogging Visual Studio.

Do we know precisely what MSVC compiler versions are supported. There are a lot of them supporting different OS versions even. From what I see in the Odin source, only recent one would work.

Microsoft offers a means to download and install just the desired build tools without needing to also install Visual Studio itself. It's an available download on the Visual Studio website here:

This is not working. Downloads around 25 MB including just the vsix files and then freezes. Tested with download trial of a few versions. Does not download.
This is on 64-bit Windows 10 OS without an installed visual studio.

Are you sure it freezes? what do you mean by freeze? Does windows say the program has stopped responding?

Downloads manifests. Then gets stuck at this screen:
