Softice not working ... what versions are you using???
Hello,
I have tried to configure version 4.3 of Softice on 3 different machines (an old desktop, an old laptop and a modern desktop) .... well, it does not detect on any of them the graphics adapter and even if on the laptop it test succesfully the universal video driver it then does not work. I wonder, softice isn't working on any of 3 different systems on how many systems can it work correctly??? What have you done to make it work??? Are you using an older version??? I remember using succesfully an old version on the laptop and now the latest isn't working anymore. I really don't know what to think. yaa |

I am using SoftICE 4.30 on both my laptop and my desktop, using the Universal Video Driver. Both computers are running WinXP SP1.
I had problems while the start mode for SI was set to modes other than Manual. Set your start mode to Manual, then once in Windows, start SoftICE yourself, and see if that works. Also, it wouldn't hurt to get the SI 4.3 updates from CompuWare's support page (hxxp://frontline.compuware.com/nashua/patches/). |

I was finally able to make softice work at least on my old laptop ... installing the latest version of DirectX did it.
