Check the release companion .nfo from any group. Usually contacts there.

See if you can get hold of a crackme by the group.
For example, Utshiha was able to provide me with an old CORE crackme. I expect that if you are able to create a keygen for a groups own crackme that they will be interested in you. |

Well, lets look at the NFO files. Many of them say something like "you know where to find us - if not, we're not interested in you".
And they're right. You don't just join the scene by asking on some web forum. There are more than enough talented people out there, if you can't build a chain of trust between you and the scene you will never get in. It's a basic security consideration. |

Yeah, that "you know where to find us otherwise don't try" bull is so SO annoying, if you're not looking for people in your NFO then don't put anything about it :P
I believe it's very possible to get into a group this way. Many NFO's have an email address you can send a message to, it's not the core of the scene but you're never going to start there anyways. |

Depends what you are looking for there. You might be just used by some grp and treated like shit or your work can be appreciated. Warez scene is dying generally and I don't see a point in joining it. Risking that much for what? It's better you could do some research on malware - legally or some bughounting, crackmes.

The Matrix will get you, not the other way around.
Didnt you see how Neo was contacted by trinity. That's the real deal. Keep your desktop with cmd open, and just wait for it. |

in the most NFOs you can read" "if we think you are worth it, we will contact you."

Joining the scene is as easy as it ever was and can be fun and rewarding.
How to join? First you need to prove that you a not a "noob", they are not interested in people who need training. Build some demos, intros, etc, go to scene parties and release them, mix with other people there, if they like your stuff they'll introduce you and may even make you a trial member. Keep impressing them and have fun and you'll become a full time member. Like always however, there are downsides, more responsibilities, some very late nights trying to get stuff working, some sleeping in the floor, etc. Can stretch relationships and day jobs when you are away for entire weekends (leave Friday, get back Monday) and spend until 5am coding and having to be at work for 9am. Can be fun until you get to the point of having a family, then you really need to start settling down. |
