Zip Plaintext Attack Query
hi,
I am trying to break the password for a zip file using the plain text attack. Since there is only one setup file (an exe file), I had to do a partial attack on it. So I copied the fist 100 bytes of the MZ header and zipped it up using winzip. Does the winzip version have any effect on the recovery ?? Am i doing wrong somewhere ? I am using advanced archive password recovery v2.20 to do plaintext attack, but use the default values for plain text attack. any advice on this : Last edited by Numega Softice; 03-25-2004 at 18:20. |

Try PKCrack. You must use PKZip -v to determine the method used (i.e. Deflate) and compress the header with the same method.
