Woodmann.net

After a short break while we sorted out the new vBulletin 3.0.0 Gamma release, Woodmann.net is open for business at the usual place.

Check out the style options at the bottom of the forums there.

Regards.

One of the things which delayed the effort was something askew in the last backup we had. I literally had to manually remove over 2,600,000 lines of "searchindex" and "word" indexes, before it would accept the backup with a mySQL instruction. Those indexes, alone, were 132 Meg of a 173 Meg backup. The newer versions index every word and number combination.

If you guys get around to updating, I am well experienced. Having worked through the night trying to get it installed and running. If you do start, you have to update through 3.0.0 beta 7 first, and then, to get the 3.0.0 gamma to run, you have to use the "update" script, rather than the "install" script and you need to save a backup of the old Board before that is attempted. You can't "restore" the backup onto a gamma board, because it uses some different tables in the mySQL.

Regards.

For those unfamiliar with the 3.0.0 gamma version of vBulletin we are using on the RCE Messageboard, check out the style chooser at the very bottom of the forums, on the left. There are three fixed size and three expanded size styes to choose from. The fixed styles are optomized for 800 X 600 resolution. The Expanded versions labled " Liquid," automatically adjust to your resolution and full screen size.

Also, in the User Profile section of the UserCP you can select between Left and Top Postbits. Postbits are the name of the poster and the other data that is listed there. On this Forum they use the only available choice, which is Left. On the gamma version, the default is Top, which some don't care for. I put an option there to allow the viewers to choose their own preference.

Regards,
