WinXP Activation Did-you-know
Did you know that all those activation cracks which rely on
OOBETimer are fake? This registry key's only use is to help MSOOBE.EXE decide whether the copy is activated. It does NOT affect the activation mechanism. So ---, Relax from searching for cracks, and get two things: a keygen or a VLK key and a life (for JMI)! |

Everyone goes on about damage Microsoft, but where would we be without Mr Gates and his "BIG" company. The real rip off merchant is datarescue, if he dropped his prices I am sure he would reap his rewards! /hobferret |

Totally agree Squidge. It's not against Microsoft per se. It's the monopolistic entity it represents. Whichever happens to be.

Datarescue

If you choose to sling garbage at a company that supports its products better than anyone out there, then go ahead, but DO NOT knock what you've not used. Example: I have, on occasion, caused IDA to crash internally. I took a screen shot of the crash information, and a little summary, fired an email off to Datarescue support and received an answer back within a day worse case. Try that with Microsoft. Try that with NuMega. Try that with ANYONE. The price is fair, you just have no idea what you are paying for. If you are using a cracked copy, then you are part of the very reason the prices are so high. They're not Microsoft they cannot afford to deal with those that refuse to pay their fair share. |

Hi thewhiz - just read your post!
I ain't knocking datarescue, I am sayin that it's bloody expensive, too expensive for student's. At least MS & others give some allowance to student's. As for using it, no I never have and probably never will. I read so much about it and the number of "plugins" that OTHER people have to write for it so that it will work "correctly" tells me that it just ain't worth it. It seem's strange that this is your first post on this board and I don't recollect your name from RCE, just maybe you work for datarescue or have some affiliation with them??? /hobferret |

There is a freeware version, use it if you have the need and cannot afford the full version. Besides, what do you need the full version for unless you are in the security field, a real research, or feel like pirating software? Quote:

So may be as a legal customer you may clarify the situation for me. In my usual life I hardly ever touch an assembly level, therefore I do NOT need IDA at all. Shall we say I have enough money and really want to buy their product cause it MIGHT be a fair prise for it. But what will be the motivation? The only reason I need IDA is for cracking, nothing more. What should I say to them? Hey, guys, can you absolutely legally sell me the very last version of IDA, I need it. Will they sell it to me? Or datarescue is the first fucking group who invented this idiotic motivation policy when selling the software?

I think buying IDA makes sense if you are a software developer who is developing shareware or commercial products.
A shareware or commercial software developer is paid for his work so he can buy IDA without problems. By selling his software he will get the money ,which he spent for IDA, back. It doesn't make sense to buy IDA if you need it for cracking only. Even if you got enough money to buy it. Crackers are not paid for their work (normally). This means that they won't get the money, which they spent for IDA, back like developers do. You have to think economically before you buy (expensive) software. E.g.: Does it really make sense to buy VC++ if you just want to develop loaders or patchers? Does it really make sense to buy an expensive PE protector if you just want to protect your freeware products with it? |

With just a little surfing I have located 6 different "hacked" versions from 3.8 to 4.5, however, I have no intent of using or downloading them. The software on my PC is all legit - Yes we all download various programs to "crack" but not the software to crack them!! Each time we crack a program and then newer versions of that program with newer "stealth" we do it to learn, not to defraud companies, well that is my personal view anyways and after it is completed it is deleted, never passed on to "third parties" and the information gleaned is stored and put to other uses! This is my last post on this subject, I am not trying or wanting to get into a slanging match with anyone. Like I said I am only here to learn!! Also I am away over the pond to Ireland where my roots are so I won't be around for a while. /hobferret 13:05 07/09/2003 |
