Does Windows 2K/XP support 64bit program?
Intel P4 6XX have 64bit registers. Does Windows 2K/XP can save the thread context for the registers correctly?

To my knowlege, it shouldn't be able to run anything that's 64bit. IIRC you need the 64bit version of windows XP, I don't think there was one made for 2000, to run it.
There's also a Server 2k3 that's 64bit, that should do what you ask for. |

Yes and kind of...
1. http://www.intel.com/pressroom/archive/releases/20050221comp.htm 2. yes if you are referring to <= sse2 registers, as for EM64T registers, no. Unless you have the 64 bit XP version made for these. note: I think that only windows 2000sp3+ has support for SSE2 Last edited by goggles99; 04-14-2005 at 06:59. |

As fare as i know in Eu there is only AMD which is 64bits.There is still no Pentium at least not in EU.ITs only in Asia.FIrst of all you need to get processor and then you need to get OS for it.The Os on which you are asking Win2k/XP ,, are 32bits and also support 16 bit.
MS is developing 64 bits windows which will be new.SO betas alredy leecked out. Search for it, i hope we had the same Os in our heads:P Bye |

The AMD64 and EM64T extensions are compatible. In fact, Intel licensed them from AMD.
As for the Windows Version, there is really one Windows 2000 version for 64bit CPUs. But it never left the "alpha" state and was build only for PowerPC as far as I recall, which is of course not compatible with AMD64/EM64T. One WinXP64 final version was also leaked recently to the internet, but it had a bad crack, so it was "nuked" from all places you could get it from. But it shouldn't take long until it's available to everybody. |
