Telegram Group

Hello everyone,

I thought it might be a good idea to create a chat group for EXETOOLS members. I chose to use Telegram for this purpose. The invite link is in the attachment. If you cannot download attachments yet, please post your @username and I will add you. Please do not leak the link outside of EXETOOLS, ask if your friend can join instead.

The rules:
- Crack request = kick.
- Unwanted PM = kick.

I would like this to be an educational experience not a crack request party. Apart from that, use common sense.

Also: this is not an "official" group, just a place to discuss reverse engineering.

EDIT: A slack channel has been created that syncs with Telegram, get me your email if you want to be in Slack instead of Telegram.

The idea is good @mr.exodia but it's asking for my telephone number...

Would there be a way to have it without entering any personal details, apart from our email addresses ?

If possible maybe another method which does not require our phone numbers ?

Many people I know just bought a SIM card or simply registered with your phone number. Other members cannot see it anyway. The only reason I use Telegram is that me and Ahmadmansoor are both on Telegram and it is a superior chat client in every way. I will consider writing a bot to sync with something like Slack though.

But what worries me a bit is this part from the FAQs :

Q: If someone finds me by username, messages and I reply — will they know my number?

No. Neither party will see another‘s phone number. This is similar to the case when you message a person who you’ve met in a Telegram group.

There is one exception to this: just as in the case of all Telegram messages, if you have somebody‘s number saved as a contact and you send them a message, your number also becomes visible to them. Just like with SMS. This happens regardless of how you open the conversation with that person — via the contacts menu, global search by username, telegram.me link, or from a group’s members page.

Many people DO have my number on their phones but do not know that it is TECHLORD that they are communicating with...

NOW, with this Telegram thing, they can associate my NICK with my REAL NAME :EEK:

I would not be terribly comfortable with people identifying me...

The MAIN problem is that in my country its more or less IMPOSSIBLE to buy a SIM card without using real name and stuff...

If you still go with Telegram. i will suggest exetools members who have problem to get sim card. they can use Virtual number for Telegram registration.

Telegram store all chats in Germany server. Encryption of chats are not secure as they are store in a SQL on device. And it is linked to a real phone number, that could be attack easily (google: pegasus nso) and many other options for realtime location.

Maybe a simple IRC channel ?

@droopy: That's why you can join via slack. You messages are still stored but you don't need a phone number. Get me your email and I will send an invite.
