softice is broken after installing WindowsXP-KB890859-x86-ENU.exe
I installed WindowsXP-KB890859-x86-ENU.exe (because micrososoft says it fixes security bugs in the kernel and having the latest security fixes is important to me) and now SoftIce causes my system to bugcheck everytime I select "Start SoftIce". What can I do to fix this? Do I have to wait and hope Compuware releases a fix file for this (or a new driver studio version) and then wait for someone to post it here?
Can I download a set of kernel symbols from microsoft and get SoftIce to read them? |

Ok, to follow up.
It seems that if I install the latest Compuware Driver Studio (Compuware_DriverStudio_v3.2_Incl_KeyGen_iNTERNAL-PARADOX from the FTP) and then use the latest osinfo.dat from the Compuware web site, SoftIce will start without locking the system. Whether all functions of it work or not, I know not. |

There's also the solution - in case the method with OSINFO.DAT does not work - to use an older version on NTOSKRNL.EXE. Search this forum and look for DriverStudio 3.1 problems with XP.
